The Benefits of Dental Implants

Whether you are missing a single tooth or require full-mouth reconstruction, dental implants can create a stronger bite and more aesthetic smile. The treatment uses a man-made tooth root, or “post,” to anchor a new tooth-shaped crown. Multiple crowns can attach to a single post, and our prosthodontist can restore a full arch with as few as four implant posts.

Dr. Chang at Dental Restorative Group will work with you to develop a treatment plan that fits your needs. While the priority with dental implants is a lasting and attractive solution, we can also discuss options, such as different crown materials, that can reduce costs.

Dental Restorative Group also serves as a single resource for Belmont and Greater Boston dental implant patients. Our prosthodontist performs both oral surgeries and restorations, eliminating the need for multiple providers. In addition, we have a dental laboratory and technician on-premise to speed up and customize the process of crown fabrication.

What Patients Can Expect with Dental Implants

The Initial Consultation

The process starts with an initial comprehensive examination for dental implants in Belmont or at one of our other office locations, during which your doctor will evaluate your concerns and make recommendations for your treatment. Some implant cases are relatively straightforward, while others require steps such as gum or bone grafting to ensure optimal results and long-term stability.

As part of your visit, we invite your questions about the process and different options available in your treatment. Our prosthodontist wants you to have the information you need to feel confident in your choice of care.

The Dental Implant Process

Dental implants are extremely common and can take less than an hour to complete. We plan each case carefully and take time during procedures to ensure the quality and appearance of our work. As part of the process:

  • Patients receive local anesthesia and typically use over-the-counter medication following treatment to manage any discomfort.
  • Two months after the procedure, we will take an impression of the patients’ crown.
  • About four weeks later, the final crown is placed by your dentist.

By the completion of the process, you should have new and natural-looking crowns in place of missing teeth. Over time, your dental implants should also offer the same function as your own original teeth.
